Steps to identify the common symptoms of CMPA
Signs and symptoms
Most babies with CMPA experience similar symptoms, namely digestive problems (such as diarrhea, vomiting, constipation and reflux), skin problems (such as hives an eczema), and respiratory symptoms (such as persistent cough and wheezing). Other more general allergy symptoms such as tiredness and disrupted sleep patterns can also occur.

Anaphylaxis
With such a wide range of symptoms, recognizing CMPA can be a challenge. It is particularly difficult when symptoms are similar to things you expect from your baby, such as crying, or when they overlap with other common problems such as disrupted sleep and runny noses.
The two types of CMPA and how it
relates to symptoms
Rapid onset
IgE-mediated symptoms of CMPA can occur within minutes of digesting cow’s milk protein and usually lead to a rash (hives), swelling of the lips and eyelids (urticaria), vomiting and wheezing.
Delayed response
Symptoms of non-IgE-mediated CMPA occur a few hours or even days after the digestion of cow’s milk protein, and often lead to gut and skin-related symptoms.
